Hello

I'm Vic Farrell, and I’m one of those people who’s lived a few creative lives. I’m a school teacher these days, but before that I spent 25 years in Sydney and Melbourne writing music, singing, performing, and generally saying yes to every wild arts project I could get my hands on. In the 90s I ran a theatre troupe in Lismore, in the mid-2010s I toured Australia with my PhD shadow-puppetry project, and now, in my very comfortable autumn era, I’m happily buried in visual art and clay.

I’ve been throwing on the wheel since 2020, when COVID shut the world down and pushed me into the studio full-time. I absolutely adore teaching pottery. I spent two years with Hope Horizons in Toowoomba, and I’m still a practising artist who paints in acrylics, oils and watercolour. Everything I teach comes from years of trial, error, curiosity, and about a decade of private classes back in Melbourne.

If you’re local and you want to learn how to throw on the wheel, hand-build beautiful forms, or explore an idea through a series of paintings, I’d love to help you get started. Beginners are very welcome, and so are people chasing a specific creative project.

I also have a Diploma in Counselling and offer Art Therapy sessions because, honestly, making art is one of the most grounding, healing things you can do.

And just so we’re clear: I no longer have the pink hair. This was the only photo I could find. I took it in Cairo in 2017. I’m much less glamorous now, but I promise I’m still fun to learn from.
